Arrivée à Lisbonne - le parc des Nations

In these
pictures, we can see all the flags of the world that make the distance, across
the park.

The
Cristo Rei, in Lisbon was built in 1959 to thank God for having spared Portugal
during the Second World War. From up there (85 m),
the splendid view over Lisbon. The best time to go : just before sunset...
The tower of Belem was the sentinel and the river to protect the
entrance to Lisbon city object of all desires...
Patrick GarçonBâtie between 1514 and 1520 (at the time of King Manuel
1st) on a draft of Francisco de Arruda, the tower of Belem de Sao Vicente was
the essential part of the defense complex of the bar of the Tagus.
Referring again to its shape, the traditional dungeons of the castles of
the Middle Ages, this unique building has also supported the Manueline
architectural changes due to the development of artillery and has structural
features that bastion of modern approaches. At the time this elegant tower was
twisted in the middle of the Tagus, it then constituted a starting point for
the caravels going off to discover the world ... between the 15th and 16th
century.
World Heritage site by UNESCO, is a building that tourists will not fail
to admire the earth, or the Tagus, on the occasion of a visit to Lisbon by
boat.

During the Easter holidays, we
visited Portugal on a school trip. Our journey began with three days in
In the Portuguese capital, we visited
the most famous monuments, we also discovered the local customs, gastronomy...
On account of this journey, we will
present the monuments that we had the chance to visit and places that make
Lisbon.
On the banks of the Tagus, we find
the historic area of Belém. Its main tourist attraction is the Jeronimos
Monastery, whose construction began in 1501 and was completed 70 years later.
Most of the repair costs were borne by the spice trade.
This is the best example of what has
been called Manueline style whose inspiration comes from the areas visited
during the great discoveries, and also with the influence of Gothic and
Renaissance. The tomb of Luís de Camões, author of the work "The
Lusiads" can be seen in the monastery, which is also that of Vasco de
Gama. Not far from the monastery is the

Belém Tower was built on the banks of
the Tagus River between 1515 and 1521 by King Manuel I of Portugal to keep the
port of Lisbon. Located in the district of Belem, she was classified as World
Heritage by UNESCO in 1983.
The
Belem Tower evokes Africa full Lisbon. Under its
terraces, balconies and watchtowers Moorish fortress that was built in the
sixteenth century to century by Arruda house captains of the port, has seen
passed caravels bound for the coast of Guinea.
Santa Maria Maior Cathedral of
Lisbon, originally Igreja de Santa Maria Maior, and sometimes called Sé de
Lisboa is the cathedral of the Portuguese capital and the oldest church in the
city. It is exactly located in the parish of Sé.
It was built by order of King Alfonso
I of Portugal, some time after returning to Lisbon Moors in 1147. The
Cathedral, at the time of Afonso I, had the legal status of

The cathedral and the Saint George's castle
The Saint George's Castle (Castelo de
Sao Jorge in Portuguese) is located in the parish (parish) of Castelo Lisbon
Portugal.
The district of Alfama
Alfama is the oldest and one of the most typical districts of the city of Lisbon. Its name derives from the Arabic "alfa maa" which means "the thousand sources”.
This area is known internationally for its fado bars. The neighborhood is located between castelo de São Jorge and the Tagus, it contains many important historical attractions and restaurants.
The Alfama is a very special, it resembles an ancient village where
everyone knew each other and compliment each day. The
district is considered one of the safest and visited the city and is known for
its restaurants and homes, as well as the festivals of folk saints, especially
St. Anthony of Padua, from June 12 to 13.

Villa Praia

Villa Praia is a small town located on the northern coast of Portugal near the Spanish border.

We spent three days at Villa Praia. We arrived by
train at the station of Villa Beach (one of the smaller stations in the world
cf. Mr Janin) some students were there to greet us.

We found the apartments.

The students we have visited Villa Praia. Then we discussed and ate pizza.

And spent our evenings together, in joy,

in good mood,

and music…

But all good things come to an end and it came time to leave…

and that was the end of your stay at Villa Praia.

Then, they can use
differents fields as football, basket or volleyball ! They just have has ask for a ball the supervisors.

In class, the
sequence it’s the same, like us in

The school has a bookcase,
and computers for work.

During our visit, we noticed that the school get involved in what a lot
what it happens in the world, a very big variety which is felt, with all flags

There was a lot of
information about the French culture:

Of course, pupils

PORTO

Porto is the second city of Portugal,
after Lisbon. This city is situated on the
bank of Douro.
Porto has a high density of population: 240 000
inhabitants.
The inhabitants of Porto
are called Portuense or Tripeiros (in reference to a local specialty, the tripe
a la mode de Porto).
It’s this city that gave its name in Portugal. On the banks of Douro,
the Roman founded two cities: Portus (now
Porto) and Cale. Then, these two cities
gave the name to the country: Portucale.
Porto was the capital of "Condado Portucalense" or
"Portucale”.
Our day in Porto :
We visited Porto on
April, the 13th.
We started by walked in the street. There are many
street and shops and it’s a really big city, very touristic.

After the visit of the street, we went
to the market of the city: this is a
little market with some butcher and other seller of different things flowers, fruits...

Then, we crossed the city to see the cathedral. Porto
is a long city in altitude so we go up and it was rather difficult. The Porto’s cathedral is a very big monument and there
is tilling in the wall, this is pretty original.

To finish our visit, we went in a cellar of Porto. Someone explained to us the
story of the wine of Porto. Vineyards and cellars of Porto are on the south bank of Douro to “Nova de Gaia” and grapevines are in the high
valley of Douro, in one hundred of
kilometers from Porto.
There are two kind of Porto
wine:
The red wine,
The white wine, which has to be conserved in the fridge.
Older is the wine, less is alcoholic and better he is.
There are two way to make age to the Porto: in bottles or in Wooden barrels.
In the industry that we visited (a family industry)
there are some tanks in stainless steel which contained 12 000 L of wine.
